Services

MH Consulting maintains a flexible and client-focused approach to best serve the unique needs of each client. Whether providing specialized expertise in community engagement, serving as part of a multidisciplinary consultant team on complex facilities master plans, or acting as temporary in-house support staff, we adapt our role to complement our clients’ resources and objectives. Our goal is to provide the right level of support to help clients plan, prioritize, and successfully implement their facility initiatives.

We believe meaningful stakeholder engagement is fundamental to the success of every project, and this philosophy guides our work from planning through implementation. The services highlighted below represent only a portion of what we can provide. If your organization has a specific need that would benefit from a focused individual or small-team approach rather than a larger consulting firm, we welcome the opportunity to discuss it. We enjoy partnering with clients to develop practical, creative solutions that address their evolving challenges and long-term goals.

We believe assessments should look beyond the physical plant to evaluate how effectively a campus serves the needs of its users, including staff, students, and families. Educational suitability, operational adequacy, safety, and security are all essential components of a comprehensive campus review. At the same time, the condition and performance of the physical plant remain critical and are integrated into a holistic evaluation of each facility.

Site Master Planning

Site needs often exceed available funding, requiring thoughtful prioritization and strategic planning. Our approach is to work collaboratively with site stakeholders, District leadership, and facilities staff to identify and prioritize needs in alignment with broader District goals and long-term facility objectives. The result is a practical, implementable plan that fits within available budget constraints, reflects stakeholder consensus, and positions the District to effectively address both current and future facility needs.

Facilities planning can range from a focused effort to satisfy OPSC funding requirements to a comprehensive process that establishes a long-term vision for the future. When done effectively, it is a collaborative undertaking that engages a broad range of stakeholders, community members, and decision-makers. Considerations such as demographics, educational delivery models, facility conditions, funding opportunities, and community priorities all play an important role in developing a successful plan. MH Consulting can lead this process from start to finish, helping clients create a clear and actionable roadmap for the future, or serve in a specialized role as part of a larger planning team.

Development of Design Standards

Working collaboratively with educational leadership and Maintenance & Operations staff, we help establish facility and design standards that guide future projects and design teams. These standards promote consistency across campuses, support long-term operational goals, and simplify maintenance and facility management. The result is a more efficient, sustainable approach to project delivery that aligns design decisions with the District’s educational and operational objectives.

Community Outreach

We have found that many challenges and perceived issues are often the result of limited communication or a lack of stakeholder alignment. Drawing on extensive experience facilitating discussions among groups of varying sizes and interests, we help build consensus, foster productive dialogue, and create a shared understanding of goals and priorities. Whether serving as a facilitator, advisor, or member of a broader project team, we support clients in resolving conflicts, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and moving initiatives forward successfully.

Project and Program Budgeting and Forecasting

Developing a vision for future facilities is only the first step; successfully implementing that vision requires careful planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Factors such as cash flow, project phasing, procurement strategies, permitting timelines, contractor availability, staffing resources, and funding constraints must all be considered when developing a realistic capital program. We work with clients to evaluate these variables and create actionable implementation plans that align priorities, schedules, and available resources. The result is a strategic roadmap that supports informed decision-making and positions projects for successful execution over both the short and long term.
